Girls Fore Girls

Each year the FWGA sponsors a charitable event and this year that event, The 4th Annual Girls Fore Girls Tournament, will be a four-person scramble supporting young female golfers. Kearney Hill Golf Course will be the site of the event and it will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, which is our regular league day.

There are two goals for this event: to encourage young females to play the game and to help them with entry fees for tournaments next summer. High school golf coaches in the area were contacted about this event and some girls have already registered.  

The format will be a four-person scramble with two girls from the younger set playing with two girls from the “mature set”.  The high school girls will not be charged for the event and the rest of us will pay our usual green fee at Kearney Hill. Each player may choose a partner to be on her team, or she can sign up as a single and will be placed on a team.  The same applies to league members.  You may sign up with another league member or invite a friend who is not in the league. All league members will be assured of a spot in the scramble.

Registration is currently open on Golf Genius under weekly signups. Handicaps will not be considered as most of the young girls do not have established handicaps.

We will accept donations on the day of the event, or anyone can donate at any time by mailing a check to Sandra McCully or donating through Venmo, @fayettewomensgolf and earmarking the donation as Girls Fore Girls. All girls who participate in the tournament will be given a form to apply for financial help next summer.  A committee will be appointed to determine the recipients and amounts of the awards. The distribution will be published to the membership, so everyone knows how the donations were used. No donation is too small.  If anyone would like to donate snacks, drinks, or small door prizes that would be helpful. Many thanks to Marsha Bordas for chairing this event.
